During our return trip from San Francisco, California to Reno, Nevada, my 8 year
old son had an interesting question, to which I am having a hard time finding
the answer:

If it was completely flat between San Francisco and Reno (no mountains, etc.),
with a powerful enough telescope, would you be able to see the city buildings,
in Reno, or would the earth's curvature get in the way?

Would love to hear from you - Linda
