I have seen several instances lately of doves landing on well travled roads
with vehicles passing within a few feet or on one occasion directly in front of
me and making no effort to escape. I have also witnesed several times birds
laying on the ground near my bird-bath (which the doves like for drinks) as if
they were injured. As I approach very close, they fly away, apparently ok. I
know young males like to attract females with brazen acts (like teenagers in
cars) but could such acts of courage be seen in doves?
