I would like to know what the effect would be on the Earth if an asteroid or
comet the size of the one that reportedly killed the dinosaurs collided with our
moon. Would it matter which direction the body hit the moon? Could an impact
actually knock the moon out of Earth orbit either away from the Earth, or into
the Earth? Pauline Barmby, Astrophysicist, has answered what might happen if the
moon were moved closer to Earth but what might happen otherwise?
