When you run or participate in another physical activity your body temperature can raise as much as 3 degrees. Your muscles, heart and lungs all have to work harder to make up for your running. They produce more ATP (energy) which in turn causes the body's temperature to rise. This is why we sweat, we sweat to cool ourselves off in an attempt to maintain our homeostatic body temperature (98.6).
