By "nuclear power" I assume that you mean nuclear energy from either
fission or fusion.  The short answer is not really.  To get usable energy
released from fission a large mass atom, such as uranium, splits into
smaller mass items that have higher binding energy.  This "conversion" to
higher binding energy results in a release of net energy.  To get usable
energy released during fusion two lighter atoms are "combined" into a
larger atom again with higher binding energy.
