This falls into the category of "interesting idea." We still have no idea what dark matter is, even though there is solid evidence that it exists. To make matters worse, current observations provide strong evidence for dark energy, which we understand less well than dark matter. The multiverse idea holds that our universe is but one of many. Some implementations of this idea allow interactions between universes, which could in principle produce effects that we would interpret as evidence of dark matter. Unfortunately, there are currently no testable predictions of the multiverse hypothesis, so there's no way of knowing if this idea is correct.
