James,

I have no first-hand knowledge of whether astronauts use meditation for stress in space. I knew a few astronauts personally and have worked with many others, but none have ever mentioned it. I'm sure that each one has their own way of dealing with the stress of being on orbit and NASA tries to ensure that the crews gets personal time each day for their own use. Other "relaxation" activities are sending DVDs, books, and private phone calls with family and friends. One astronaut I know was trying to get permission to bring his guitar.

I know this isn't a very good answer to your question, but it's also a very private and personal matter to many crew members so there's not a lot published on it.

You may want to try asking here: http://www.discoverspace.org/askastronaut_current.cfm

Good luck!
