Han,

Although current meteorologists use instruments as simple as a thermometer 
to as complicated as a multi-billion dollar satellite, the best 
observation tool we have is the human eye.

Well before we meteorologists had the computers and satellites, weather 
watchers, farmers, and scientists were observing, recording, and 
forecasting the weather.

NASA has an interesting web site that talks a bit about early weather 
observations and forecasting. Visit it at:
