Based on the literature references below, it looks like there are good published methods for TLC separation. For reverse-phase chromatography, the common solvent system of acetonitrile/water is used. For normal-phase chromatography, three systems used are toluene/acetone, chloroform/2- propanol and ethyl acetate/hexane. Visualization can be accomplished at 365 or 254 nm due to the benzyl group chromophores. Iodine vapors will can also be used to aid visualization as well.
