Hi Annie
Sorry for taking up so much time to answer your question.

It is an interesting question. How can one tell a living from non-living? Well..living things as you
know do have a movement when disturbed or touched, right from the smallest (microorganism like
Bacteria) to the largest (Whale). But plants that are also living, do not show such movements
(execpt for some!!). One can also make out a living from non-living by taking a small sample of the
thing and looking at it under a microscope. Of course, if one puts water we can come to know if
the thing is living but it may not always be the case, some animals that love water may not show
any movements.
