MadSci Network: Botany |
Recent local news (DC), relates the phenomenon of flowering trees blossoming over the last few days/weeks becasue of the "warm temperatures". As children we were taught that the blossoms come out in the Spring as a consequence of the "lengthening days". Circumstances seem to contradict the teaching. The truth is more likely that we don't really know as much as we THINK we know. Is that the issue here?
