Monica,
Gasoline is made by taking crude oil and separating the gasoline out
from it. The part that's left over becomes other kinds of fuel, like
kerosene.
Gasoline was originally sold as an ointment to ward off lice and their
eggs! Later, gasoline was used as a cleaning agent
and a fuel for gas ovens. Then, when the internal combustion engine was invented,
gasoline was used to power automobiles.
