The mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical evergreen tree, believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas.

The chemical constituents of mangosteen comprises of polyphenolic acids including xanthones and tannins. The phenolic components gives essence and color to the juice. The stains are difficult to remove due the presence of these tannins in mangosteen juice.

Additionally the juices possess nutritional values and are potential anti- oxidant.
