Dear Austin,

Yes, a hybrid plant comes from the seeds of an artificially pollinated plant. Hybridization is usually done to increase the vigor of plant varieties: almost all the corn, wheat, and soybeans planted in the US are hybrid crops. Also, early experiments on hybridization allowed Gregor Mendel to uncover the laws of genetics.
