Subject: Is the mid atlantic rift pushing in on the pacific ocean on both sides?

We are learning about earthquakes and plates in our class. we learned the
pacific ocean is shrinking while the atlantic is getting bigger and that the
atlantic spreading is helping shrink the pacific in california. but when I look
at a map is the atlantic also pushing against europe and the other countries to
shrink the pacific around japan?
