How long can human sperm live after intercourse in an inert polyurethane
condom outside body?

If the polyurethane has been manufactured in such a way that it is non-
toxic (they are not all non-toxic) then most sperm within the ejaculate
can live between 8 to 24 hours depending on (1) the components of that
male’s accessory sex glands (fluid from seminal vesicle and prostate
glands) and (2) the quality of that male’s spermatozoa in that particular
ejaculate. The glandular fluids have things that are both helpful and
harmful to sperm survival partly because the ejaculate is made to be
deposited into the vagina and do well in the female reproductive track
environment at core body temperature (370 C) and not in an inert
polyurethane condom at room temperature (approximately 240 C). We see a
lot of variance within the male population when evaluating semen samples
in the lab so that is why my answer is quite broad. If the sperm cells
are separated from the ejaculate and then resuspended in a culture medium
made specifically for sperm outside the body, the longevity can be
extended to several days for some men.
