Following a car accident, I lost my sense of smell.  My doctor said if it did 
not return within a year, it probably never would.  It has been several years 
and it has not returned.  I have learned to live with this.  However, it would 
be interesting and helpful to know if there was something I could have done to 
help regain it.  Also, sometimes I get a distinct taste in the back of my 
throat when other people are noticing a strong smell.  What is this?
