It baffles me that proteins and polymers are able to crystallize, and not just
get entangled in some sort of an amorphous gel. Is there an upper limit to the
size of a protein/polymer one can crystallize ? Are there specific requirements
on the type of residues/monomers present to get a crystal (like for example
hydrogen-bonding groups) ?
