Hi David,

Well, once the tooth is pulled, the blood and nerve supply to the tooth is 
broke. This causes the soft tissue of the tooth to die off very quickly. 
The calcified part of the tooth (the part that you see on the outside) 
will dry out but not disappear - in fact, are always found in human 
skeletal remains from thousands of years back.
