Does the cytoplasm in prokaryotic cells exclude the nucleoid region? The nucleoid region is a nuclear store material. In case of prokaryotes there is no distinct nuclear membrane present as observed in eukaryotes. It is a part of the prokaryotic cell cytoplasm. The cytoplasm of prokaryotic cell contains nucleoid region as one of the cellular inclusions.
DNA in the bacterial cell is generally confined to this central region. Though a membrane doesn’t bind it, it is visibly distinct (by transmission microscopy) from the rest of the cell interior.
