Isn't mixing beef broth and agar powder the way to make N agar plates?

Nutrient agar is used for growth of different variety of microorganisms. In
most of the cases nutrient broth is used as preenrichment media for growth
of microorganisms. Selective microorganisms can be isolated on different
media supplemented with components useful for the specific growth
requirements of the microorganism to be isolated.

Simply addition of beef extract and agar powder in specific amount of water
would give you nutrient agar. However, American Public Health Association
(APHA) has suggested some standard composition for preparing nutrient agar.
