As a general rule, freezing may destroy 90 or 99% of the bacteria present
in the food being frozen, depending on the type of bacteria and the
characteristics of the food.

That may seem like a lot, until you realize that some foods may contain
100,000 or 1,000,000 bacteria per gram.

When a food containing 1,000,000 bacteria per gram receives a 99%
reduction, that food still contains 10,000 bacteria per gram.

If you are eating yogurt for the health benefits you believe that you gain
from eating beneficial bacteria, it would be better to eat yogurt that has
never been frozen.
