This argument has been kicked around for years. I believe it is bogus. There have been a bunch of demonstrations on both sides of the issue. I don’t think any of them were actually valid scientific experiments. I think you can do searches and find data pointing both for and against it.

If it were a valid process, we would have plants wired up all over the place. I am sure we will see additional research along this line again showing data both ways. Some years ago a group tried to demonstrate plants respond to events around them, i.e. if a crime was committed in their presence they would respond when the bad person reappeared, nice idea, but did not stand.
