Hi Gokul,

Thank you for your question. I am having a bit of a hard time answering it, as I don't quite understand what the direction of the field is. I am assuming it is into the page, so if you look at the loop, the magnetic field is moving in the direction in which you look. If the magnetic field is in the opposite direction, the same reasoning holds, only with all the signs reversed.

The magnitude of the field going out of the page is decreasing. This is essentially the same as having an increasing magnetic field coming out of the page. This field is, by Lenz' law, counteracted by the magnetic field produced by the current induced in the wire loop. As such, this counteracting magnetic field is going into the page. Using the right-hand rule, one would expect a clockwise current. As such, if the problem is the way I think it is, you are correct and your textbook is wrong.
