Yevgeniy,

Opinion on the likelihood of finding the axion is divided in the
particle physics community.  The axion is a particle proposed by
Peccei and Quinn to explain the lack of CP (charge conjugation -
parity symmetry) violation in strong interactions.  It is a dark-
matter candidate.  A list of current searches can be found in the
references below.
