The main purposes of seminal fluids are to clean the urethra immediately prior to ejaculation and act as a buffering agent in the uterus. The components of seminal fluid are water soluble and will be dispersed in water. Water is spermicidal and and therefore sperm cells will not function shortly after being immersed in water.
