Subject: How do I measure glucose levels in food (banana) quantitatively?

I have already heard of glucose test strips or refractometer and I am not sure of
how the latter one works. I am confused about refraction because I thought any
material can increase the density of water, not only sugar, so won't other
substances in the banana also affect the refraction?
