Ben, 
What kind of light bulb are you using?  You should use very small 
flashlight-type bulbs, or LEDs.  Or better yet, a very small inexpensive 
battery-powered watch.  Also, try a lemon for better results.  A 60W 
household lightbulb will need far more power than a simple lemon or 
potato can generate.
