We know already that buffering capacity refers to a substances ability to
nutralize the pH. We would like to find how to calculate this number. We
will be using this information to help us with a science fair project in
which we place various forms of Calcium Carbonate into Hydrochloric
Acid.We will then use a pressurizer to determine the amount of gas
released in the reaction. Because we know that when a buffer reacts with a
substance, emitting gas, then we think we would be able to determine which
substance was the best buffer. We will then relate the information to real
life situations. Any information you have will be greatly apreciated.
Thank you!
