One of my students wrote a final exam paper on the properties of hydrogen cyanide. He was puzzled to find that insects are susceptible to CO poisoning, but seemingly are immune to HCN. He postulated that insects have a different oxygen carrier in their circulatory "systems." Anyone have any solid data on this? I promised him I'd poke around over the summer ... Thanks, Amanda Kahn
