I would like to know why moths are attracted to artificial
light. Where does this fit in their survival strategy?
What did they do before we came along and provided
artificial light? Why don't they try to fly to the moon
or the sun (or do they?). It seems like evolution would
have taken care of the ones who might have been inclined
to go space traveling but how did they evolve such an
attraction for artificial light when it has been around for
such a short (relatively) time?

(I hope I put this in the correct subject area. The form
insisted on an entry but I'm not sure what it should be.)

Thanks.
