Yes. Oil and coal are still forming, but at a substantially reduced rate as compared to the past. The reason for that is that the earth is no longer a tropical climate, it's vegetation has been stripped and is being used to feed, clothe, and house people. In addition, there will not be any mass overnight extinctions of large creatures, such as in the dinosaur era. [Moderator note: We hope there won't be such an extinction any time soon.] Therefore, for all practical purposes, what's here is here, and there will be no more when it's gone. The world will have to find a sustainable, renewable, plant source for fossil fuels. The most viable, efficient, and versatile plant known to man for such uses, and in addition many other important uses was the Cannabis plant. It has however, suffered from political annihilation. In other words, it holds the dubious distinction of being the only known living plant on the face of the earth slated for intentional extinction. This is the only reason it has been outlawed. Monopolies exist on virtually every known product society uses. It could be an appropriate raw resource for the production of fuels, oils, plastics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, paints, solvents, cloth, fiber, and an almost endless list of products.
