The natural course of events is that the heaviest [wgt] object will be in the
dependant position when a women is upright. Anything that prevents this can
be a cause for breech presentation. Potential causes: abnormal uterine
contours, tumors in the pelvis, twins, polyhydramnon, which means excessive
amniotic fluid, placenta previa, meaning placental location in the lower uterine
area. The head is usually fixed in the pelvis 2 to 3 wks prior to delivery .
Prior to then, the head is the heavest part of the baby, this is less
pronounced after this date. Last but not the least is the presence of a small
pelvis, meaning the inside measurements, not outside measurements.
Of couse the mode of delivery is a consequence of the above since it takes
a larger pelvis to deliver a breech baby than a vertex[head first], since the
largest part the head comes out last and does not have the time to mold to
the pelvis. Therefore a lot a breech babies are delivered via C.Section.RM
