In his book "In the Beginning", John Gribbon states that the
density of the universe is just slightly greater than the critical
value. His book left me with the impression that a closed universe
is in fact implied by inflation theory. Until I read this book, it
was my understanding that the density of the universe was still the
subject of debate in the scientific community. Is this still true?

Thank you
