While admiring a Christmas tree my friends and I were discussing different techniques for preserving the tree over the New Year (the longer it is up the less work needs to be done to remove it and being college students we're pretty lazy). The most interesting technique involves placing aspirin in a water bowl in contact with the bottom of the tree. I was wondering if aspirin actually preserves the tree some how, or if this is just an old wives tale?
