Craters on the Moon have a diameter of less than 1 km to more than 500 km
(310 miles)!
Most craters are caused by impacts with space debris called meteoroids.
The Moon has no atmosphere so meteoroids do not burn up before reaching the
surface - as happens most of the time at Earth. Meteoroids come in sizes
from a speck of dust to the size of house!
