Hello Chris,

Sorry about the delay in replying,

According to the local poison control center, the reason for the 'do not eat' warning on the silica gel
packages is that the package is a choking hazard.  The beads themselves (which are essentially identical to sand)
are harmless when eaten.  Just provide juice to remove the bad taste from the kid's mouth.
