Mitch,

This sounds like a personal problem to me.  While many things can cause bad 
breath, including poor oral hygiene, lung infections, and diseases of the 
GI tract, throwing in the metalic taste narrows things down a bit.  Far 
and away the most likely cause is a change in the intestinal flora.  This 
can be brought about by a GI tract infection but is most commonly due to 
taking antibiotics for some other reason.  Also common is enlargement of 
the taste buds, and a mild sensation similar to when you burn your tongue. 
The best solution is to eat some yogurt or buttermilk containing live 
cultures.  This will help restore a normal bacterial colony to the GI tract 
and get rid of the symptoms.
