Subject: How is Ethanol (Alcohol) metabolized in the body?

I'm writing a term paper on how alcohol effects the body.  I'm not looking 
for statistics on alcohol, but I want to understand HOW alcohol effects 
the body (like what body parts are influenced, what exactly happens when 
alcohol enters the system, and why alcohol has the effects that it does).  
I hope you can help me because after researching on the internet, I can 
only find basic statistics on drunk driving or super medical lingo 
papers.  Thanks.
