Re: Where do bees go in the winter?

Bees return to their hives on cold winter days where they keep warm by clumping together in large groups and beating their wings in order to produce heat for the colony. The bees alternate positions on the colder outside of the clumps taking turns with those in the warm middle. They do not hibernate and may be seen in late winter during a warm spell. When spring finally arrives the bee colony goes into full production as the new surge of flowers provides ample nectar for their needs.
