Well Marie,

We are still having a hard time measuring intelligence, but even putting these difficulties aside, I do not think that pigs would rate as particularly intelligent.

Out of the mammals you would expect the great apes and some of the monkeys to show relatively high levels of intelligence; whales and dolphins have also been identified as being intelligent.

As a general rule carnivores are likely to be more intelligent than herbivores because it takes more cunning to hunt an animal than it does to look for vegetarian food. Thus lions, leopards and other cats all are quite intelligent animals.
