Great idea, I've never tried that. If it works, it sure would save the wear and tear that comes from turning your TV set on and off.

For those who don't know what this is about, see :

There's a chance that it might not work, so we won't know until we try it. When the TV screen changes from dark to white, the amount of excess charge on the inner part of the TV screen will be changed, and the change in the charge will be communicated to the aluminum foil by the process of "induction of charge." This *might* be enough to power the motor. On the other hand, when we turn the TV set on and off, the amount of charge on the entire picture tube changes enormously.

If it doesn't work at first, try using a black-and-white TV instead of color. Color TV sets have a perforated iron plate behind the screen, and this might behave as an electrical shield. Also, find as big a TV as you can, since smaller screens are more feeble. (Finding a large-screen black and white TV set might be hard nowdays!)
