The original habitat of the Asian Long horned beetle is hardwood forest in
China, however they have arrived in untreated wood from China. Their new
hosts in the Americas are hardwoods like:
Maples (Norway, sugar, red, silver Manitoba, and sycamore)
horsechestnut
elms
poplars
willows
ashes
cherry and various fruit trees

Adults eat the leaves and bark and young shoots of trees. Females deposit
eggs one at a time into the bark. Older larvae go deeper into the tree and
chew channel through out killing the host tree.
