The question is, when you drop a marble into a cyclinder why

does it always (when I say that I mean almost always) hit 

one side then sometime hits the other.  Even if the marble is

dropped as close to the centre as possible it tends to hit one

side or the other.  If released close to one side it will tend

to travle to the oppisite side where it hits.



This question was given to me by my physics teacher and we

were told to get the answer any way we liked.  If you can help

it will be greatly appreciated.
