Why can't we travel faster in space ?
If I'm in a spacecraft going 17000mph to Mars why can't I travel
50,000mph by fireing a faster rocket.There is no resistance except
a small gravitational pull from the sun to slow me down.
  It seems to me that velocity in space should be unlimited
