The latin word for bee is Apis, so anything having to do with bees
has the prefix Api at the front of the word. For example:
- Apiology - the branch of Entomology dealing with bees
- Apiculture - the keeping and rearing of bees
- Apiary - a "house" for keeping bees (similar to "aviary" for
birds)
- Apiarist - a beekeeper
- Apiarian - related to beekeeping
- Apifactory - a group of apiaries used for economic purposes.
In English, "Beekeeping" is as correct as any other term, although the
international beekeepers
organizations like using "api" as a prefix on several other words.
