If a 30 mph wind passed thru a canyon it is will create more velocity, and generate strong gusts of wind. That is why mounting activites, climbing, hiking, and flying thru them can be dangerous. Is there an area in USA, some mountain range that it is the most dangerous. Is it more dangerous at some particular angle, or geometric configuration? I have heard some areas can hit up to 400 mph winds from nowhere, is this possible, true, and where does this occur? Bob
