English unit: divide weight (pounds) by the acceleration of gravity (32.2 feet per second per second) and the unit is called a "slug" (I'm not kidding!).

Metric unit: multiply mass (kilograms) by the acceleration (meters per second per second) and the result is a force, whose unit is called a "Newton".
