Subject: What if a saddleback hasn't moved, is turning brown and shrinking?

Our class has been trying to raise a saddleback caterpillar for about 2 weeks 
and he is shrinking and turning brown.  We are feeding him food that books said 
he ate.  We are giving him tap water also.  He hasn't been moving and is stiff. 
We looked at many websites including your library.  We looked up this in the 
local and school libraries.  What is wrong with him? What can we do?
