Hello Madronero,

The short answer is no. No genetic linkages between fingerprint patterns
and anything else have been found. Studies of twins and monkey clones
have shown no association between the three general pattern types
possible: arch, whorl and loop.

I think most people would agree that there is a genetic basis for primates
to have ridges on fingers and feet. In other words, fundamental genetic
information that tells the limbs to develop ridge patterns at the ends of
the digits and on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. But
beyond that, there does not appear to be a genetic basis for even the
general pattern types obtained. If one existed, one would suspect that it
would have been discovered. The fingerprint patterns develop during fetal
development and these patterns remain with us for life. Theories on the
mechanism of pattern development include electrical stimulation from
migrating nerves and movement of the fetus itself during growth. Whatever
the mechanism, it would seem to be of a random nature.
